Crating

Crating a piano for shipment is required when the piano is shipped long distances. To crate a piano, one needs to consider the stresses during the shipment and the ultimate destination( for example EU has different and more stringent requirements about crate materials than South America) . Our checklist for all our crates is this:
  1.  the piano has to be mechanically fastened to the crate against free movement in the crate.
  2. The mechanism has to be secured against movement.
  3. The piano has to have air circulation around it to prevent against damage to the finish.
  4. The legs and other loose parts have to be padded and secured against movement in the crate.
  5. The crate has to be of sufficently strong to bear the weight of the piano and occasional bump at the port or cargo terminals
  6. Use of screws instead of nails in assembly( No fears of damage to the piano during disassembly)
  7. proper markings on the crate(As funny as it seems you must indicate which end is up etc...)
  8. Does this piano have ivories?(not allowed in many countries)
We also can help assisting Air or Sea abroad shipping.
